Frequently Asked Questions

Foreign dental graduates pursuing admission into USA dental schools’ advanced standing programs always face the requirement of a bench test preparatory course. This bench test requirement is because dental education standards may vary globally, and dental schools in the USA aim to ensure that candidates possess the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to meet their rigorous standards.

The utilization of bench tests allows dental schools to standardize the evaluation of clinical skills. Given that dental education standards can vary globally, a bench test provides a consistent and objective measure of a candidate’s ability to perform essential dental procedures. This standardization is critical for maintaining the high quality and uniformity of education within American dental schools.

The bench test evaluates candidates’ practical abilities in a simulated clinical setting, ensuring they are well-equipped for the hands-on aspects of dentistry in the American dental system. A preparatory course helps candidates familiarize themselves with the exam format, expectations, and essential clinical procedures, increasing their chances of success securing admission to advanced standing programs. This process ensures that foreign-trained dentists entering the U.S. dental field are proficient and prepared to provide high-quality care in alignment with American dental standards.

Bench tests go beyond theoretical knowledge, demanding the demonstration of technical proficiency. This type of evaluation includes precision in executing dental procedures, understanding the nuances of material handling, and showcasing a mastery of the technical aspects of dentistry. This practical assessment confirms that candidates can translate their theoretical understanding into effective clinical practice.

Bench tests provide an objective means of evaluation. Unlike subjective assessments, where interpretations may vary, the outcomes of a bench test are tangible and measurable. This objectivity ensures fairness in the evaluation process, as all candidates are subjected to the same set of clinical scenarios, allowing for a transparent and equitable assessment.

The 2-day bench test prep course prepares you for the advanced standing program admission requirement. It is a rigorous On-Site program, with minimum practice time. If a student wants more practice and guidance, they should consider a 4-day or a 6-day program instead.
